An assessment of academic abilities – also referred to as an educational or learning assessment – consists of testing to evaluate listening comprehension, numeracy, written expression, and reading accuracy, fluency, and comprehension. It allows parents, educators, and other clinicians to better understand a child’s performance relative to children of the same age. It can be useful in identifying areas of strength and weakness, identifying areas for additional learning support, and evaluating suitability for selective streaming or placement. This assessment is available for children aged 4 years or older.
